다음은 존 바에즈 소개글 입니다.
존 바에즈는 1941년 1월 9일 뉴욕의 스태튼아일랜드에서 멕시코 출신의 앨버트 비니시오 바에즈(Albert Vinicio Baez)와 스코틀랜드 출신의 존 브리지 바에즈(Joan Bridge Baez)의 세 딸 중 둘째 딸로 태어났다.
그의 아버지는 핵무기 제조에 반대하는 물리학자였으며 어머니는 희곡작가였다. 나중에 바에즈가 인종차별을 반대하고 반전평화운동가로서 활동하게 된 데에는 반핵물리학자였던 멕시코계 아버지를 둔 가정적 환경이 컸다고 할 수 있다.

1961년 뉴욕에서 밥 딜런을 만나 함께 전국순회공연을 하며 흑인들의 인권 향상을 위한 인종차별 철폐운동에 앞장서고 월남 반전평화운동에 적극적으로 활동했다. 국내외에서 펼친 음악활동만큼 반전운동도 맹렬했던 그는 직접 반전시위에 가담하여 체포당하기도 하였다. 1968년 3월 26일 반전운동가인 데이비드 해리스(David Harris)와 결혼한 바에즈는 해리스가 비폭력주의를 실천하기 위해 양심적 병역거부로 투옥되자 우드스탁 축제(The Woodstock Festival)에 참여하는 등 반전운동에 더욱 열중하게 되었다.
